Building a life I don’t need a vacation from
Or my hot take on “fake it til you make it” that is very much not fake.
The life that I imaging having when I’ll be as rich as I plan on being — it isn’t an “all or nothing” monolith.
This perfect life that I imagine is a combination of lots of little details.
And here’s the “fake it til you make it” non-fake trick, which is also my gratitude list:
Most of those little details are available to me today, while my bank account isn’t overflowing.
Renting a big house in the countryside costs about the same as renting a small apartment in the city.
So much space means — having all the pets!!!
Living in a rural area allows me to have chickens too!
Working from home allows me to have a super-flexible schedule — I have time to enjoy the sun with my dogs, talk with my friends, write.
I’m touching so much grass every day that I’m barely stressed about the obstacles of building a new business.
I have the mental space to build my business.
I rearranged my kitchen to be comfortable for me, disregarding all rules I collected throughout my life.
I rearranged my closet, adding boxes to make order easier — most of my shirts don’t expect to be folded or hung to look wearable.
Most importantly — I gave myself permission to adjust my habits to match future me, the obscenely rich one.
Sure, I still do most of my chores for myself… but I do them as if I’m my own hired help — limited in time, not a constant weight on my mind.
Sure, there are lots of things that I want and can’t afford at the moment — buying a house in the countryside, buying a boat, taking all my friends to an all-expenses-covered vacation for every birthday.
But when I look on my life through the eyes of people who know me, of my younger self — I’m grateful to be already living a life I don’t need a vacation from.
