Building the Matriarchy is a financial revolution

About a year ago, after visiting a huge tech conference in Barcelona (where women were still mostly for decoration) and hearing that at the current pace gender-equality won’t be achieved in the near 150 years (not a typo), I sat to think.

Saying ‘in 150 years’ is the same as saying ‘never’.

Lack of gender-equality is not a problem that everybody ignores. Many smart women and some not-stupid men are doing their best to bring the change… so why the grim prognosis?

I could dive into the psychological aspects of changing the minds of generations, how the oppressors are not willing to give up their privileges, how indoctrination from before birth poisons one’s beliefs… but that’s not my area of expertise.

Instead, let me focus on what I know how to do — the practicalities of making something work when it adamantly refuses to be possible.

To balance an imbalanced system we need to push beyond the center point, well into ‘positive discrimination’ territory.

What You can personally do to make it happen faster

Vote with your wallet — choose women whenever possible.

Buy from women-owned businesses.

Hire women.

If you own a business and decide your own rates — charge men more than women; let your prices close the wage-gap.

Ask women you know to vote with their wallets.

I’m building a searchable database of women-owned businesses to streamline redirecting the flow of money (and power) to women.

The first step is creating a spreadsheet with some basic information about 100 women-owned businesses — it will be done during the first week of February.

I want your advice for the second step.

What could be a good way to expand the database, without exposing it to trolling men?

What would be the most useful way to show the information — a list? a map? a secret third option?

Hit reply and let me know what you think, Queen!
