I fear success

and if you're playing small, you might be too.

Everybody talks about the fear of failure, so I want to talk about the other one — the fear of success.

It sounds counterintuitive. How can I fear the good thing?

I don’t fear “not stressing about money” or “being able to generously donate to causes I care for”.

Living in my own house that someone else cleans doesn’t seem like a threat... nor does owning a boat.

I fear the negative side-effects of success.
I fear the road to it.

I fear the decision fatigue of choosing all the details for my perfect life that I’d be able to afford when I succeed.

I fear changing my habits to match my new lifestyle, both because it means changing myself in some way and because I already tried and failed to change them.

I fear almost reaching the goal, but never achieving, despite working the hardest that I could. I had this one happen more than once.

I fear burning out and not enjoying what I have.

I fear reaching the goal too late.

I fear missing out on today while I devote myself to tomorrow.

I fear feeling stupid that I didn’t figure out the way sooner, that I didn’t do it by myself, that I got help.

I fear discovering that my friends are intimidated by my success and aren’t my friends.

I fear that my parents were right and it’s all just delusions of grandeur.

I fear that what I think I want is somebody else’s dream for me.

I fear being laughed at when I really try.

I fear that I’m not really trying.

This time I’m not on team “do it afraid”.

I’m writing my fears down,
but instead of burning them — I’m releasing them into the internet.

May they plague mediocre men.

If this resonates and you want to teach computers to print money for you, here’s how we can work together:

Idea brainstorming — 20 minutes virtual coffee chat
If you’re over 30, you have enough life experience to have great ideas for a startup… but if you don’t have experience with startups, you might not recognise them — despite seeing them every day. I help you spot them.

Workbooks bundle — DIY journey from an idea to a well-defined product
26 questions that guide you to figure out all the important details without asking about them directly — your niche and ideal customer profile, the unique value proposition of your idea, your business model, and your go to market strategy.

Step by step guide to writing a pitch deck, based on your answers, with pointers on what investors expect to see in each slide.

Step by step guide to writing the development requirements for your MVP without any tech knowledge. (this one is still under construction)

Thinking partner — pick my brain as you work through the workbook
Ask me questions while you’re working on the workbooks and get a written feedback from me on your answers, your pitch deck, and your MVP definition.

Work with me — build your business with my support
We plan the roadmap from an idea to a stable €2K/month that is doable for you — 3-5 hours per week, based on your existing skills, within your budget — and I help you reach that goal in a year.

…as your temporary tech co-founder: I find and manage the developers, ensuring your money is spent on quickly developing a robust MVP — not on empty promises.

…as your development guide: I guide you to develop the MVP step by step, saving you years in learning tech just to be able to decide what you need to do.

…as your lead investor: I cover the development costs, delaying the major expense of building a tech company to when it has profits.

There are no prices because I want my services to always be affordable for those who need them. If that’s you — we should talk :)

With love and purpose,
Ela Shapira
